I currently teach in a couple different studios, offering group classes, private sessions for extra one-on-one attention, and various workshops. I primarily teach Vinyasa and Yin styles of yoga, along with Stand Up Paddleboard yoga, although my teaching and practice style does not exactly follow one particular style. I love a practice that feels fluid, organic, and authentic; a practice that relies on listening and feeling how your body wants to move and honoring that.
I believe a yoga practice is a celebration of being alive. It's a celebration of what it's like to have the ability to move and groove and feel-really feel- and to shake loose all the sticky grippies and yuckaroos that start to bog us down, hold us back, or dull our shine.
We come to our practice
to remember that what we say to ourselves is a choice- how we show up is a choice- knowing that we may not always get to choose how we feel or how people treat us, but we can always choose how we react to those feelings.
Life is messy, busy, chaotic, confusing, and loud. Nothing will ever be perfect or exactly as we planned or hoped. It is so easy to breathe life into anger, fear, frustration, resentment, and judgement.
My practice is a practice of choosing a different path; choosing kindness, forgiveness, acceptance, gratitude, and joy. Of not waiting for big huge moments or days on a calendar to celebrate life. To feel amazing now; to know I am enough NOW.
Today, I choose happiness. I choose to shine.
Hi, I'm Sarah.
I am a mom, a wife, a friend, a sister, a daughter, a yogini, a chooser of happiness, a celebrator of the beautiful simple moments in life, and a work in progress. I love to laugh and cook and snuggle and smile and be outside and be inspired. What inspires me most is guiding students to find peace, self love, and their own unique shine in the world.
I have been teaching yoga since 2000, starting at YMCA in Green Bay, WI, then we moved to Los Angeles, where I was a Health and Fitness Director at a YMCA and taught at a couple studios in the area. We then moved to the suburbs of Chicago, where I have been teaching ever since. I have several yoga, pilates, and Group Fitness certifications, including having studied with Beth Shaw (2002) and Rolf Gates (2012).
Have questions, comments, compliments? Lay 'em on me!
